best typeface ever?

Journal Entry: Wed May 23, 2007, 2:38 AM
FF Din Regular

I started watching the movie Fay Grim last night and only got as far as the opening credits. The typeface they used is just amazing.
I took a screenshot and fed it into the myfonts.com recogniser (~zer for you yanks), it spat out the wrong font, then i tried the fontsfonts.com recogniser and finally zeroed in on the right typeface: FF Din Regular

I have to say it's possibly the most beautiful typeface ive ever seen. so clean and solid. I bought the whole font-family. now just have to use it for something.
It has taken the crown from helvetica - which was my previous fave.

What's your favourite typeface? Do you have one?

Whats been happening lately? Well I finished my contract with dopeden. com - all the interface design is is finished. The database is still being finalised and the flash-monkeys are going through beta troubleshooting. site should be up in a few weeks. And if evrything goes well it will be the next big social-networking site, and take a good percentage of myspace users.
Wish I could post some screens of it, but im still under NDA till it launches.

Working a contract for hippo. com.au now, which is a targeted youth site for casual and part-time jobs (like SEEK.com for you aussies, or monster.com for you yanks).
Im Creative Director / Senior Designer - which is a wanky title lol, mostly doing media-buying and advertising strategies (which is a bit dry tbh). Still doing design but it's not overly exciting, have to stick within the corporate style/colours etc. Not a lot of room for creativity. Most creative stuff is coming up with snappy billboard slogans that are edgy and tongue-in-cheek-without-being-too-risque - not nearly as fun as jamming out some designs in ps/ill.
Its interesting doing the media buying side of things though, I havnt been exposed to that side of the industry before. A good learnign experience.
Got some meetings lined up with MTV/VH1 next week to discuss oportunities for cross promotions, motion is somthing im keen to get into, try my hand at something new :)

thats all thats kickin with me right now. oh yeah, bought a Pantone Huey finally! fantastic little gadget, and so cute :D

hello, i was just stopping by because i saw some of your cd covers you have done and they look very nice. I was wondering if you took any requests in any way? My band is just starting out somewhat and were working on recording some song. But as for now we only have bits and peices on the bands myspace. So if you could possibly do a cd cover for us please comment back or feel free to send a note.

thanks

Hey, I love your work, mostly your CD Covers.
I stumbled upon them while looking up some CD Cover designs for some research, as I am designing a CD Cover for year 12 Visual Communication & Design right here in Vic :)

Just though id drop a line and say your stuff Rocks :)

If my Designs turn out to be the standard yours are I would be wraped :)

you are quite correct there sir aaron, july is indeed for chumps. it also seems to be the time where everyone decides to crawl out of the womb and have a fucking birthday. theres one thing i hate more than spreadsheets and punching myself in the face, and thats constantly purchasing ridiculous gifts for people on an off pay week and slowly spiralling into debt with westpac only to find yourself confused and very poor. Alll month ive been calling people on the wrong days of their birth dates and ive even mixed up a present by managing to give a male friend of mine a $50 voucher for bras n things.

conclusive? when amy is poor and confused, amy loses the will to continue with her recreational activities such as photo-time and eating potato. hence the lack of recent deviations. period.

good luck with aspirations to join golden circle.. if your plan works, a 2 litre can of pineapple goodness sent up to me via carrier pigeon would be much appreciated, yo.

ps: you know what is fun?? drinking copius amounts of sake then playing leapfrog. seriously, bail on the spreadsheet of doom and give this one a shot.

ciao!

leopard, this season's must have. if you dont own a leopard or at least part of one, there's no telling what unfortunate events will come your way.

how's july treating you so far?
